Using a holding furnace reduces contamination and minimizes defects caused by localized melting. It stabilizes temperature and improves casting consistency—especially when compared to crucible furnaces.

In the injection stage, the die halves (machined from hardened steel) are clamped shut and molten aluminum is injected into the mold cavity at ultra-high pressure (often exceeding 15,000 psi). Once the metal solidifies, the die opens and uitwerppennen push the finished casting out of the mold. Any excess material (sprues, gates, flash) is trimmed away.
